Find firms
Find law firms by practice area, headcount, and location
Practice area lives on the website, not in a database. That is the hard part and the way in: read each firm's site into a column, then filter on it.
Law firms are easy to enumerate and hard to qualify. Nobody files their practice mix anywhere useful, and directory listings go stale quietly. A firm name tells you nothing about whether it runs 12 attorneys or 200. The answers all sit on the firm's own pages.
So read what they publish. Serper returns the firms and their offices from Google Maps, plus the web results for each practice area you search. A Web Research Agent column reads those results and the firm's own pages into a practice column. Blitz API reads the firm's LinkedIn company page for a staff count. A people search on the firm finds the administrator, and the email chain starts at Blitz API, with LeadMagic among the lanes behind it.
Example searches
Ask for it the way you'd say it
Each example is a request in plain words, with what it returns underneath.
Practice mix, not firm name
law firms in illinois that handle employment defense and have at least 15 attorneys
Practice areas come from what the firm publishes and ranks for. The filter reflects the work it takes today, not a category set years ago.
Boutique or full service
firms with 3 or fewer practice areas listed and a single office
Office count and area count arrive as numbers, which turns boutique into a filter instead of a judgment call.
The person who buys software
find the firm administrator or director of operations at each of these firms
At smaller firms that is the managing partner, and the row records which role actually resolved.
Plays
Three motions you can run this week
Each one is a chain of OXYGEN primitives: the same hosted objects your workspace already has, composed.
Practice-area segments
One sourcing run becomes 4 segments, each with an opener that fits.
- 1Have a Web Research Agent column read the practice areas each firm publishes and write its main one into a column.
- 2Copy each practice into its own table, tag it, and enroll it in a sequence written for that practice, not for lawyers in general.
oxygen columns addAdministrator, not attorney
Outreach lands with the person who actually evaluates the tools.
- 1Resolve the operations or administration role first, and the managing partner second.
- 2Promote both onto the firm record so the follow up has somewhere to land.
oxygen people search runOffice-level coverage
A multi-office firm stays one account with several places to start.
- 1Link each office row to one firm record so nobody works the same firm twice.
- 2Keep the per-office contact on the row for the territory that owns it.

Who you can reach
Roles you can find at law firms and legal practices
Reachability is per channel: a role marked for mobile is one the phone waterfall usually resolves, not a guarantee for every record.

Filters you can search on
- Practice areas a firm publishes and ranks for
- Attorney or fee-earner count
- Office count and cities
- Jurisdictions and bar admissions named
- Boutique, mid-size, or full service
- Client portal or intake platform detected
- Languages the firm advertises
- Year the firm was founded
Firms publish their people, so partners are usually named on the firm's own site. What is weak is anything financial: billing model, revenue, and matter volume are not public, and directory attorney counts are often years out of date. Nothing here reads a page behind a client login.
Data sources
Data sources and CRM connections
SerperGoogle Maps listings for firm offices, plus web results for each practice area you search.
People Data LabsA second record for the firm and the people it employs. OXYGEN's default headcount and people searches start at Blitz API. Add this one as a tool column by name.
Blitz APIWork email for partners and administrators, resolved from their own public profiles.
- LeadMagic
Catches administrators at firms whose only published address is an intake inbox.
Use managed credits where available, or connect a supported provider key on an eligible paid plan. Your provider bills its calls; OXYGEN adds a per-call platform fee. Signed-in CRM connections such as HubSpot have no per-call fee. Connected sending accounts reserve monthly credits. See pricing and supported integrations.
Limits
Where this stops
- Attorney counts drift badly. A directory number is often years old. A headcount from company records includes staff who never bill, so keep the count as a band and confirm it before it decides a segment.
